Abstract
This book by Dr. Oresta López challenges the reader to discuss and rescue from the shadows the historical scenario of rural teachers of the Mexican Valle del Mezquital during the period 1920 to 1940. In this study, Dr. Lopez, using the innovative approach of historical ethnography of which she is a pioneer in her country, establishes a dialogue between the disciplines of anthropology and history, to inquire into the construction of gendered meaning by rural women teachers.
