Author Biography

Eric Mulvaney, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Eric Mulvaney is a graduate student studying global higher education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He holds a BA in political science from the University of Massachusetts–Amherst. His primary interests are in investigating how cultural norms and institutional policies shape the professional lives of academics, particularly along the lines of gender identity and sexual orientation. Eric worked as an English as a second language teacher in South Korea, which accounts in part for his interest in international education, the effects of identity on educators, and transnational identity development. He has held graduate assistant positions in academic advising departments as well as the international student services office, deepening his practical understanding of higher education operations. He presented on queer international student transnational identity development support at the 2025 Association of International Educators conference in San Diego, CA.
