Vashti Singh, University of Guyana

Vashti Singh was awarded a research scholarship by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India and graduated with a PhD in Sociology of Education from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India in 2006. She is currently a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Research and Graduate Studies, at the Faculty of Education and Humanities, University of Guyana, Guyana, South America. In addition to teaching research methodologies and supervising postgraduate research, Vashti Singh has participated as an internal and external examiner for several master’ s theses and doctoral dissertations. Her research interests include post-colonialism and educational change in the Caribbean with a focus on complex historical and contemporary factors influencing democratic governance, policy reforms, and culturally responsive practices.
