Abstract

This work offers a multidimensional analysis of the massification process of higher education enrollment in Latin America, addressing both common regional trends and the historical and institutional particularities of Brazil, Uruguay, Peru, Argentina, and Chile. Through eight chapters organized into three thematic axes (Foundation and Context, Institutional Structure, and Operation), the book brings together research that primarily utilizes comparative analysis and empirical studies to unravel the dynamics of educational expansion. The collected works constitute an important contribution to the past and present trends of higher education in the region, allowing for a precise understanding of how social stratification mechanisms operate within the Latin American university sphere.
