Liv H. Detwiler, University of Tennessee Knoxville

Liv Halaas Detwiler has dedicated her career to foreign language education, first teaching Spanish at the high school level and directing programs at the internationally recognized Concordia Language Villages.  She taught Spanish, Hispanic linguistics and Foreign Language Teaching Methodology for many years at East Tennessee State University.  Presently she is a lecturer and a graduate student at the University of Tennessee Knoxville in the department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education.  Her areas of interest include practical applications of Second Language Acquisition research in the FL classroom, best practices in teacher preparation programs, experiential learning, potential for powerful collaborations between FL and ESL classrooms, and student motivation in foreign language learning.
