Think Tank Reviews

Reviews can assess more than just books. Each year, dozens of U.S-based think tanks publish expansive reports on a range of education topics. Such reports resemble monographs and edited volumes but are rarely peer-reviewed.

Education Review has teamed up with the National Education Policy Center (NEPC), a university research center housed at the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education, to offer multiple points of access to reviews of think tank reports.

In January 2025, Education Review began a monthly feature NEPC reviews. Using academic peer review standards and written in non-academic language by expert third-party reviewers, these reviews are intended to help policymakers, reporters, and others assess the social science merit of a reviewed report and to judge its value in guiding policy.

NEPC has graciously allowed Education Review to republish the NEPC Reviews following a 2-week delay and attribution to both NEPC and Review authors. For a complete list of NEPC Reviews, visit https://nepc.colorado.edu/reviews.
